To anyone looking for John Kooistra's iPhone Games - head on over to Cat in a Box Games!
I've started a new company with two of my best friends, Victor and Henry, and Blue Defense and Blue Attack are now the property of Cat in a Box Games. :)
For those of you who still expect this to be my blog, I'm generally just posting everything to FaceBook these days. I see no need to maintain this personal blog anymore - the company stuff goes on the company page, the personal stuff goes on facebook. :p
So yeah, happy gaming to all, and I guess I'll be seeing you all elsewhere on the internets!

Just got new keys for the house. :)
Now, all we need are appliances, and we'll be set for life!
No wait... that's not right... we need to paint the mailbox, get some garbage cans and recycling bins, clean up/unpack, etc...
But meh. I'd like to believe that after tomorrow nothing else needs to be done. :)

I'm waiting at the lawyer's office, waiting to pick up the keys to our new house!
I'm pretty darn excited, I have to say. :)
but at the same time, I'm kind of sad that I had to let all thy money go for the mortgage downpayment...

This website sucks. I wonder every now and then if anyone really follows this web space anymore - I don't post, I don't say interesting things, etc...
And when something truly interesting happens, I let it slip by!
Like when I proposed to my fiancee (she was just my girlfriend at the time, though), I didn't post it for some time... and the previous post was about my desire for wheat thins and their salty goodness.
And now my birthday has come and gone, and my birth-month lacks a single post! Almost three weeks ago, on Good Friday, it was my birthday, and in an incredible gesture of love and childishness, my wonderful fiancee ordered Lego for me. Not just any Lego, the Lego robot kit!
I was so happy, yet I failed to post anything here...

So, after some tinkering, reworking, and optimizing, we've decided that the best long-term solution for Blue Attack and Blue Defense is to move their score databases onto a dedicated server box.
Now, instead of running on a shared web hosting service, with lord knows how many other people on it, the database is sitting on top of a quad-core phenom box with four gigs of RAM and a dedicated 10 megabit uplink to the intertubes.

Now, instead of going over our cpu limit, and locking people out of the online high scores 60 seconds at a time, we barely see a hit to CPU usage during our peak hours. We've got plenty of headroom, and I'm excited that we have so much more power to play with now!
